Women’s Hockey: Terriers draw back into USCHO, USA Today Top-10’s

Coming off a huge weekend where they picked up their first two in-conference wins on the back of junior goaltender Corinne Schroeder, head coach Brian Durocher’s Boston University Terriers (3-1-1, 2-1-1 WHEA) have returned to the national rankings, coming in at tenth in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The Terriers . received 17 total points/votes in both polls.

BU took down UConn by a 1-0 final to kick off the weekend on Friday as Schroeder pitched her third career shutout in a 38-save performance highlighted by 11 saves on the penalty kill for Durocher’s group.

The Terrier netminder followed up a dominant showing on Friday with another strong outing on Sunday afternoon, a 3-1 win over Maine, saving 27 of 28 shots, including all 16 attempts she faced in the third period. Schroeder’s performance on the weekend was enough for her to earn the distinction of Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time in her career.

After a winless two-game set last week that saw the Terriers tie Merrimack before losing to New Hampshire, the Terriers fell outside of the top-10 rankings in both national polls for the first time since jumping up to eighth at the end of January last season.

Schroeder and the Terriers return to action this week with another road trip, visiting Penn State (3-2-3) for a 3:00 pm matinee on Friday before a 1:00 pm matchup on Saturday afternoon.
