Women’s Hockey: Schroeder earns Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors

Junior goaltender Corinne Schroeder has been sensational for the Terriers in the early goings of the season so far, and her performance this past weekend was enough for her to be named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time in her career.

Schroeder appeared in two starts over the weekend as she earned her third career shutout on Friday evening against UConn with a 38-save performance in BU’s 1-0 win over the Huskies before stopping 27 of the 28 shots she faced in the team’s 3-1 victory versus Maine on Sunday afternoon.

After the Terriers opened their season with a win over Union two weeks ago, the team struggled a last week as, opening up its in-conference schedule with a tie against Merrimack and a loss at the hands of New Hampshire. So, Schroeder’s play this weekend was huge for the Terriers, helping the team pick up two Hockey East wins on the road to right the ship.

The Elm Creek, Manitoba, native also leads the nation with a sparkling .965 save percentage over four starts while her ludicrous 0.98 goals-against average is good enough for second-best in Division I.

The Terriers will be back on the ice this weekend as they travel to Penn State for matinee matchups on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
