Men’s Hockey: Terriers set to take on Northeastern in 67th Beanpot Semifinal on Monday

For the third time this season the Terriers (10-11-3) will take on the number 13/14 ranked Northeastern Huskies (15-8-1) as the two sides are set to square off at TD Garden in the second game of the Beanpot double header on Monday at 8 PM. This semifinal matchup will be a rematch of last year’s Beanpot final where the Terriers fell short 5-2.

In the first game of a weekend series earlier this season, the two teams tied 5-5 at Matthews Arena before the Terriers dropped them the next night 4-1 Agganis.

Going into Monday’s contest, both teams are riding losing streaks with the Huskies having lost three in a row while the Terriers have dropped two in a row. The Huskies’ losing streak can be attributed to a lack of scoring as of late, having scored just five goals over their last five contests and winning just one game over that time. In that same span, the Terriers have won three of their last five and have scored 19 goals.

For the Huskies, sophomore forward Zach Solow leads the way in goals with 11 and junior Grant Jozefek is right behind him with 10. Then for the Terriers, Bobo Carpenter leads the way with 10 goals followed by Joel Farabee, Patrick Curry and Shane Bowers with nine apiece.

Carpenter has been inactive for the Terriers in each of the last the last two games after being injured against Arizona State in game one of a weekend series at Agganis two weeks ago. However, he has not been ruled out yet for Monday’s game and could still make an appearance for the Terriers.

In net it will likely be a matchup between Jake Oettinger for the Terriers and Cayden Primeau for the Huskies. Both goalies have been solid so far this season but Primeau has the slight edge in terms of performance so far this season. He has a .921 save percentage to go along with a 2.42 goals allowed average while Oettinger has a .920 save percentage and a 2.72 goals allowed average.

The teams will battle for a chance to take on either Boston College or Harvard next Monday.
