Women’s Hockey: Terriers take down Bears in Providence

PROVIDENCE—The BU Terriers (4-4-4) defeated the Brown University Bears (5-6-1) 5-2 on their home ice on Tuesday evening.

Brown’s Sena Hanson put the first number on the board just over 13 minutes into the first period, assisted by Tina Paolillo. BU’s Connor Galway responded (with a helper from Nara Elia) with less than two minutes before the end of the period, tying the score 1-1.

The Terriers outshot the Bears 20-5 at the end of the first 20 minutes.

Three-quarters of the second period remained goalless. Then, with five and a half minutes remaining, Terrier co-captain Sammy Davis gave BU their first lead of the night (2-1), assisted by Jesse Compher (Davis’ eighth goal of the season). In the third period, Hanson netted her second goal of the game (and ninth of the season) a few minutes before the halfway point, tying the score again (2-2). The Terriers then went on a scoring frenzy, adding three goals in a span of six minutes. Co-captain Reagan Rust found the back of the net 11 minutes in, assisted by Courtney Correia and Emma Wuthrich. Nara Elia followed up with two and a half minutes left in the game, assisted by  Kristina Schuler. Finally, Mackenna Parker’s empty-netter (assisted by Davis and Galway) sealed the deal.

The Terriers took a 5-2 win back to Boston. They outshot the Bears 13-6 in the final period, and 42-17 in total.

Terriers’ goaltender Corinne Schroeder stopped 15 shots out of 17, and Bears’ goaltender Calla Isaac saved 37 of 42 shots.

Next, the Terriers will face cross-town rivals, the Boston College Eagles, in Chestnut Hills on Friday, November 30 at 6pm.
