Women’s Hockey: Terriers travel to Brown, take on Bears

PROVIDENCE- The Boston University Terriers (3-4-4) will skate at the Meehan Auditorium tonight as they take on the Brown Bears (5-5-1).

The tilt will be the Terriers first out of conference game of the season. In fact in women’s hockey east adding Holy Cross as a program and the Terriers being involved in the Beanpot, Brown is one of only three non-conference foes (RIT, Penn State) the Terriers will take on in the 2018-19 campaign.

This will be the Terriers second straight week with a tilt on Tuesday, also the second time the team will play three games in five days. The first time came last week when a weekend series with UVM was followed up with a Tuesday matchup with BC.

The Brown Bears enter Tuesday’s game without a win in their last four games (0-3-1). Brown is averaging 2.4 goals per game on just over 23 shots per game.  The Terriers sit at 2.2 goals per game on about 28 shots a contest. Neither team has had terrific luck on the powerplay, so a marker with the man-advantage could pay off big for the team on the receiving end.

Brown features a lineup with many skaters who can score goals. The Bears have 5 skaters with at least 3 goals on the season. Junior forward Sena Hanson leads the team in scoring with 7 goals and 10 points in 11 games.

The Bears haven’t found their go-to goaltender as of yet. Both junior Calla Issac (6 starts) and freshman Hayley Kliczko (5 starts) have gotten a lot of work in net for Brown.

The Terriers are coming off a hard fought loss to Boston College. Sophomore Jesse Compher is leading the way offensively as the teams top point scorer, and tied for most goals. Compher has 7 goals and 11 assists for 18 points, while redshirt junior Sammy Davis has 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points. The next closest Terrier points wise is junior defenseman Abby Cook with 5 points.
