Men’s Hockey: Terriers face Northeastern in weekend series

After falling to a 0-4-0 start to the season following the loss to Providence College on Saturday, the Terriers are focusing on what they can do to improve before they take on the Northeastern University Huskies in a home-and-home this weekend.
On Thursday, the Terriers head across Fenway to take on the Huskies on NESN before welcoming them to Agganis on Saturday.
With the team struggling to come together and score goals, the Terriers are working on improving themselves and not worrying too much about their opponents.
“I think the focus is just us trying to get better” said BU head Coach Albie O’Connell. “We’re not worried about Northeastern, we’re worried about ourselves right now.”
In the past two games, the Terriers have not been able to muster a single goal and have looked lifeless at times on offense. Now, McConnell is looking for the offense to step up.
“We just don’t have enough grit in our offensive game and we don’t shoot the puck enough,” he said.
The No. 13 Huskies are on a two game winning streak and currently sit at 4-1-1 on the season. Their only losses both came at the hands of Union College. Other than their 1-3 loss to Union on Saturday, the Huskies have scored at least three goals in each game this season.
“We just got to worry about playing good team defense, no matter who we play, it’s just a matter of us tightening things up and playing the right way,” said O’Connell.
For the Huskies, junior forward Grant Jozefek leads the team in goals with four through the first six games. Lincoln Griffin, John Picking and Jeremy Davies are all tied for the lead in assists at five a piece.
Sophomore Cayden Primeau will be tending the net for the Huskies this weekend, allowing an average of two goals per game and a .923 save percentage.
If the Terriers are going to save their season, grabbing two wins against the rival Huskies would be a great place to start. Puck drop for game one is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1.
