Field Hockey: Terriers split weekend set in D.C.

The Boston University Terriers spent the weekend on the road facing off against American University and Penn State.
The Terriers brought home a 2-1 win in Washington D.C. against American University on Saturday the 15th, but lost 4-0 to Penn State on Sunday in College Park, Maryland.
Saturday was the Terrier’s first Patriot League game of the year, meeting their rival the American University Eagles. BU’s win against the Eagles was their 17th consecutive win in the Patriot League.
In the first half, sophomore Miya Denison scored against the Eagles on an assist from senior Ally Hammel, sending the game into overtime. Sophomore Petra Hall ended the contest when she scored at 6:25 off an assist from freshman Casey Thompson. Hall’s goal won the game for the Terriers, 2-1.
On Sunday, the Terriers were bested 4-0 by the Penn State Nittany Lions. The game was the first time the two teams had met since the 1991 NCAA quarterfinals.
The Terriers produced 10 shots at the net, with two shots from both Hammel and sophomore Ailsa Connolly, but ended with no goals. Senior Kathleen Keegan had six saves in net. The loss snapped BU’s three-game winning streak.
