Women’s Soccer to Begin Three-Match Road Trip Against Dartmouth

BOSTON, MA  –  After a 1-0 loss to Boston College on Thursday, the Boston University women’s soccer team will now begin a trifecta of road fixtures by taking on Dartmouth in Hanover on Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers (1-6) had their momentum hindered by the home defeat after a 3-0 sweeping of UConn last weekend gave them their first win of the season. Even so, they took several positives away with them. Taylor Kofton maintained her record of being the only freshman in the squad to have played in every single match this season, and put in a standout performance as she took three of BU’s four shots against the Eagles. The rookie midfielder, whom head coach Nancy Feldman referred to as a “star young player,” should be able to translate her confidence into more positive results on Sunday. The confidence of goalkeeper Amanda Fay is likely also on the up; the sophomore returned to the starting eleven, after missing three games via injury, with a career-high six saves against BC.

Dartmouth (2-3) endured 107 minutes of grueling soccer against Northeastern on Friday, eventually losing 3-2 on the golden goal. The result extended the Big Green’s losing streak to three matches, with back-to-back defeats to Oregon and Oregon State preceding. After finishing as points leader last season, Remy Borinsky has taken up the baton again with a goal and an assist this campaign; she is joined at the top of the points table by Erin Kawakami (1 goal) and Lorna MacFarlane (2 assists).

Thanks to wins in five of the last seven matchups, the Terriers currently own an 8-7-5 edge in the all-time series; that includes last year’s 1-0 victory, in which current senior Julianna Chen bagged the game’s only goal in the first half.
