Headlined by sophomore Anna Heilferty’s selection as the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, four members of the Boston University Women’s Soccer Team earned selections to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team.

Joined by a trio of seniors in Dorrie Varley-Barrett, Julianna Chen and McKenna Doyle, Heilferty was the lone underclassman selected to the squad. A native of Falls Church, Virginia, the forward earned Patriot League Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Patriot League honors in her inaugural campaign after posting three goals and five assists.

She earned a spot on the U-18 National Team this past spring and participated in various international friendlies.

“When you put that on you’re representing the country and that’s what you’re playing for,” Heilferty said after her first international tournament in May. “It’s definitely a cool experience to see all the people it brings together.”

Chen and Varley-Barrett joined Heilferty on the Second Team All-Patriot League last fall. Both midfielders, Chen collected a pair of goals and Varley-Barrett added a tally for a team that went 10-8-3 last fall.

Doyle netted three goals and dished out two assists last fall. Of her goals, one served as the including the game-winner in a conference victory over American University.

Selected to finish second behind Navy in the Patriot League Womens’ Soccer Preseason Poll, the Terriers earned six first-place votes. They open up their season on the road at Michigan on Thursday, August 16 with a 7:30 p.m. start in Ann Arbor.
