Softball: Dubois Twirls No-Hitter

WEST POINT, N.Y. — The spectacular freshman season for Terrier softball pitcher Ali Dubois continued over the weekend in New York state, when the right-hander etched her name in program history.

In the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader, Dubois caught Army shortstop Ally Snelling looking at strike three to complete the 24th no-hitter in BU history.

The Torrington, Conn., native faced just two batters over the minimum in the extra-inning affair. She hit the third batter of the game, Emily Ballesteros, and walked the lead-off hitter of the second inning, but retired the final 21 batters she faced.

Dubois threw 100 pitches, 67 of them for strikes. She struck out four. Like she’s done all season, Dubois did a fabulous job of mixing up her pitches and keeping the ball down in the zone; she recorded 12 groundouts.

This wasn’t the first time Dubois completed the heralded feat. In her senior year of high school, she threw a perfect game in the second round of the state tournament.

Dubois finished off the historic weekend with a two-hit shutout on Sunday to give BU the series win. The ace is now 12-5 on the season with a 2.15 earned run average. She leads the Patriot League in wins and is third in ERA.
