Lacrosse Twinbill on Saturday at Nickerson Field

In a rare occasion of both the respective men’s and women’s teams of a sport sharing the same field, the Boston University Lacrosse teams will host Patriot League foes on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

The women’s team hosts seventh ranked Loyola Maryland with a 12:00 p.m. face-off. The Terriers (3-5, 1-2 Patriot League) come off a narrow 12-8 loss at Colgate on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore attack Kailey Conry leads BU with 33 points on 15 goals and 18 assists. Senior attack Avery Donahoe has 20 goals and sophomore Kaitlin Belvan also has double-digit points with six goals and six assists.

Undefeated in conference play, the Greyhounds (7-2, 3-0) are winners of seven straight and have outscored opponents a combined 55-11 over the last three games.

Six different Greyhounds have at least 12 goals, headlined by senior Frankie Kamely and junior Taylor VanThof with 24 goals apiece. Junior Hannah Powers owns 17 goals and 17 assists.

In last year’s contest, BU ran out to a 8-3 half-time advantage, but Loyola outscored the Terriers 13-3 in the second half en route to a 16-11 win in front of 417 in Baltimore.

The Terriers men’s lacrosse team (5-5, 1-3) hosts No. 17 Lehigh at 3:30 p.m. Freshman Chris Gray earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors for last week in which he collected four goals and 11 assists across two games. Gray leads all NCAA freshmen in points and assists.

Junior James Burr has 26 goals and eight assists and senior Jack Wilson owns 22 goals and eight assists. Sophomore John MacLean is also a double-digit goal scorer with 18 goals and seven helpers.

The Mountain Hawks (7-3, 4-1) have played four ranked opponents going 2-2 against those teams. Junior Andrew Pettit paces Lehigh with 27 goals and 18 assists. Classmate Lucas Spence owns 21 goals and 16 assists and fellow junior Tristan Rai is having a fine season with 16 goals and 17 assists.

After losing to Lehigh in the regular season, the Terriers pulled out a 10-4 victory in the opening round of the Patriot League Tournament in which Burr had four goals before 266 at Nickerson field.
