Harvard, BC Play For Beanpot Bronze

Last Monday didn’t go as planned for both the Eagles and the Crimson, as Boston College and Harvard fell in the opening round of the Beanpot. The two schools have won the last two Beanpot championships, but now find themselves in the consolation game together for the first time since 2015.

Boston College is making its third appearance in four years and second straight in the consolation game, after winning five consecutive titles from 2010-2014. Harvard is in the third-place game for the first time since 2016.

Last year, Harvard took the Beanpot title, beating BU 6-3 in the championship game. It was their first title since 1993. Last year also marked the first time since that year that BC finished last in the tournament, as they fell 4-2 to Northeastern in the consolation game.

Both BC and Harvard played one game last weekend. Harvard dropped a 3-1 decision to Union in Schenectady, while BC edged UMass Lowell, 3-2, in overtime.

If Boston College were to win tonight, it would be their first non-conference victory since Nov. 13, 2016 against Arizona State.
