Terriers Fall to Catamounts

BOSTON — Penalties did Coach Brian Durocher’s Terriers in during Friday’s contest against Vermont. By taking four penalties as a team and allowing two power play goals, the Terriers found themselves in a hole that was far to difficult to dig themselves out of against a very defensively sound UVM team. The final score read 5-1 in favor of the visiting Catamounts.

The lone goal of the game went to freshman Jesse Compher. The goal was her seventh of the season and came with 5:28 to play in the second period. At the time that was the tying goal after Vermont broke open the scoring earlier in the second period. Compher now has five goals in her last seven games. The tally in Friday’s contest extended her scoring streak to five games, giving her a total of 21 points on the season (7 G 15 A).

The game was all Catamounts from then on. The Terriers allowed four unanswered goals from that point on and freshman goaltender Corrine Schroeder posted 24 saves in the losing effort.

Practice this week will be focused around their upcoming matchup with Harvard University in this year’s Beanpot tournament. The game will be on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College, this year’s host of the tournament.
