Terriers Look to be Top Dogs Against Huskies

By: Brian Lombardo

As a roller coaster season continues for Coach Brian Durocher and his Terrier team, as they embark on a short trip to Northeastern University for a Tuesday night battle with the rival Huskies.

In the last meeting, the Terriers dropped a 6-3 contest to the Huskies on October 7th at Matthews Arena. The loss came after previously losing to NU at home earlier in the season in overtime.

This is a good chance for the Terriers to take back some points in the Hockey East standings. They currently sit in 6th place trailing Northeastern and New Hampshire who are both tied in fourth place. In the Hockey East playoffs, the top four teams host playoff series. Although the Terriers trail the Huskies/Wildcats by six points in the standings, the time is now to start winning head-to-head matchups with those in front of them.

Going into Tuesday’s matchup, the Terriers feature a couple of hot scoring streaks. Senior assistant captain Victoria Bach has 11 points (8G, 3A) in her last 4 games. Freshmen Jesse Compher has 4 points (2G, 2A) while leading the team in face-off wins. Freshmen goaltender Corinne Schroeder has solidified herself as the team’s starting netminder with an 8-6-2 record adding an impressive .918 save percentage.

The game is being shown on NESNplus. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
