Terriers On Their Way to Easton to Face Lafayette in Patriot League

EASTON, PA  –  The Boston University women’s soccer team will follow in the footsteps of their male counterparts Sunday afternoon. The men’s team traveled to Pennsylvania on Saturday on their way to a colossal 2-0 victory over Lehigh; now the women’s team will arrive in the same state to face Lafayette.

The Terriers (4-5-3 overall, 2-0-1 in conference play) will arrive in Easton, Pa. with the complete package. Their defense, led by veteran center backs Rachel Bloznalis and Alivya Wimmer, has not allowed a goal for more than 400 minutes. On the offensive end, BU has outshot opponents 163-120; 10 different players have contributed goals, eight have contributed assists. The visitors are also undefeated in their last four matches. In short, the Terriers are at full speed ahead.

Meanwhile, hosts Lafayette (3-4-2 overall, 1-1-1 in conference play) approach Sunday’s match in D-L-L-D-W form, having triumphed over West Point, 1-0, in their last outing. They have garnered 80 shots with 41 on target, for a highly impressive 0.512 SOG percentage; however, they have allowed similar numbers against them, with their opponents having 136 shots with 69 on target for a 0.507 SOG percentage. The Leopards will be led by junior Katie Brannigan (2 goals, 2 assists), along with her fellow midfielders Sophie Saldivar (1 goal, 2 assists) and Gabriella Martone (3 assists).

BU has won all four matches in the all-time series, outscoring Lafayette 15-1 in the process. The last meeting between the two teams occurred last year, and ended in a 3-0 victory for the Terriers, which included goals from current squad members Jesse Shreck and McKenna Doyle.

Kickoff from Oaks Stadium is set for 1 P.M.
