Highlighted by a trip to Miami, the Boston University Men’s Basketball program released its schedule for the 2017-2018 campaign.
The Terriers will host four non-conference home games and be on the road for seven. Northeastern, Albany, Wheaton and Elon will visit Case Gym this season. Terrier Head Coach Joe Jones is especially intrigued by the matchup with Elon, a formidable CAA team that returns its entire starting lineup.
“That’s going to be a team that nobody is talking about, but they’re going to be a really tough opponent,” Jones said.
A trip to Florida including bouts at Miami and Bethune-Cookman highlight the road non-conference slate which also includes battles at Harvard, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and the University of Massachusettes Lowell.
Jones also cited that in the non-conference schedule, he likes to get his team out to areas where players are from.
For example, last year they played at Syracuse for Dylan Haines and the Florida trip this year is in honor of seniors Nick Havener and Cedric Hankerson.
“We try to do that,” Jones said. “That game is for Nick Havener and Cedric Hankerson.”
A singular matchup in 1965 marked the only time the two programs have met, with Miami taking an 81-60 victory.
BU will scrimmage Yale and a Canadian team as well before starting the regular season slate with a battle against Northeastern on November 10th. That day will feature a double header with the women’s team at Case Gymnasium.
“We want to play local teams from the Northeast.” Jones said of the season opener, “That’ll be a war, it always is. It’s going to be a competitive schedule.”
