Men’s Hockey: Bruins Sign Forsbacka Karlsson

Days after Charlie McAvoy signed with the Boston Bruins, Boston University lost another top prospect to the local NHL club. Center Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson signed a three year deal and will report to the Bruins.

JFK played two seasons with the Terriers, and until his signing was announced, it was widley expected that he would stay with BU for at least one more season. He marks the third BU player to sign with the NHL after the Terriers saw their season end in North Dakota a week ago.

Forsbacka Karlsson had 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists for the Terriers during the 2016-2017 season, where he served as an alternate captain.

His departure leaves BU with two of their top forwards gone, as Clayton Keller made his NHL debut with the Arizona Coyotes last week.

Unlike McAvoy, who has begun his pro career in the AHL, where he has two assists in two games for Providence, JFK will report right to the Bruins this week. They have three regular season games remaining.
