Men’s Hockey: Terriers Recruit Top-Level Defenseman

By: Dan Shulman

The Boston University Terriers men’s ice hockey team has become known for its astounding ability to recruit raw, young talent. And it appears the coaching staff has struck gold once again.

Alex Vlasic, a 4.5-star recruit born in 2001, has committed to playing Boston University in the future. Vlasic currently stars on the Chicago Mission U16 as a big-body defenseman, defined by his characteristics of good speed and a long reach.

Vlasic is one of the most highly-touted young defensemen in hockey, currently ranked as the fifth overall draft prospect for the Ontario Hockey League. Though his commitment is not currently binding, the Terriers have had success recruiting from the Chicago area in the past, welcoming Zach Cohen and current forward Patrick Curry into BU.

The recruitment of Vlasic gives the Terriers some added reinforcements as several BU defensemen are set to graduate over the next two seasons. Adding Vlasic to a talented array of Terrier recruits is another win for the coaching staff.
