Men’s Lacrosse: Terriers Add Another Recruit

Boston University continues to be a major player in the college lacrosse recruiting landscape. From losing one of their best recruits to Maryland to adding two other players right before the season, BU has continued to make headlines in recruiting.

Earlier this month, the Terriers added another prospect with senior Danny Cassidy committing to BU. Cassidy, graduating in 2017, is a bit of a late bloomer but still a relevant prospect.

The midfielder out of Spring-Ford, Pennsylvania played well at an Under Armour tournament in Philadelphia and got his name out there.

A two-way midfielder, Cassidy becomes a part of the 2018 season recruiting class. BU has three top 100 prospects joining next year’s team, including eighth ranked Chris Gray (according to Recruiting Rundown) and #91 Michael Chiarmonte and #98 Malcolm Glendenning.

Cassidy is the third prospect of that group out of Pennsylvania, with Glendenning and Sean Christman. Cassidy is one of the strongest defensive midfielders of the group, but he also has ability on the offensive side of the field. Also a football player at Spring-Ford, Cassidy plays club lacrosse with the Dukes Elite team in Pennsylvania.

Next year’s recruiting class is one of the strongest in program history. This season’s class has produced two starters in John MacLean and Chase Levesque, and last year’s class of James Burr, Drew Lukacs, Brendan Homire, Quentin Germain and Michael Laviano is also impressive.

The next few years also remain interesting, with Governor’s Academy twins Ben and Will Murtagh and a total of four 3D New England recruits joining the team for 2019, and the 2019 class including Needham’s Jason Child along with players as far west as Washington.
