Women’s Basketball: Beaudry Captures Player of the Week

For the first time since 2014, a Boston University Terrier has been awarded Patriot League Player of the Week. Meg Green was the last to do so, in week two of the 2014-15 season.

S0phie Beaudry was unstoppable from the field in two conference games this week, scoring a career-high 27 against American. She followed that up with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Loyola in a comeback win, and with 5 blocks sprinkled in she had little competition for the weekly honor.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of her performance was a 21-31 (67%) shooting mark over that span. Her teammates supplied the ball on the block, and she did the rest. A hot week has pushed her season FG% to an even 50%, which is good for the team lead. It also ranks second among all Patriot League players.

A junior transfer from Monmouth, Beaudry was always expected to be a leader on this team after sitting out last season. She’s more than just that, though, and with her ability to anchor both sides of the ball she has undoubtedly become one of the conference’s most difficult matchups.

Feeding Beaudry on the block has been a priority for BU throughout the season. Long may it continue.
