Women’s Hockey: Terriers Get Two Points Out of Weekend

In a weekend where the Boston University women’s hockey team needed to get points, they added two. With just seven games remaining this season, the Terriers better hope that two ties on home ice against Vermont is good enough.

The game on Saturday looked to be a loss until BU was able to tie the score at one in the third period on a tally from Sarah Steele. Two straight goals from the Catamounts made it appear the game was out of reach, but that’s when the Terriers took advantage of the extra skater.

The goal to make the score 3-2 came from Sammy Davis on the power play when she was able to get a rebound in front of Vermont goalie Melissa Black. With 1:48 left in the game, BU struck again with Victoria Hanson pulled from her net; this time it came from Victoria Bach, who had a three point night.

With no score in overtime, the game concluded as a 3-3 tie.

Sunday’s game could have been a mirror image; at least, in the final score.

Mary Parker scored her 18th goal of the season just 54 seconds into the contest, but from there, Vermont shut down the Terrier attack. A goal late in the second period off a Catamount stick would knot the score at one, and it would remain that way until the final whistle.

BU next takes the ice on Saturday afternoon at Providence.
