Men’s Lacrosse: Terriers Land Another Big Recruit

Boston University is getting involved in the recruiting game.

After announcing several top players joining next year with National Letters of Intent, the Terriers have continued to get verbal commitments from top talent around the nation. Today, according to Ty Xanders of Recruiting Rundown, BU has added yet another.

Griffin Schultz, a 2020 graduate out of Trumbull High School, Connecticut, has committed to play at BU. He was a standout prospect at the Showtime Lacrosse tournament.

Another prospect committed a couple of days ago, also out of Connecticut, in Michael Gottlieb, a 2019 graduate. The midfielder was an Under Armour All American in New England last season and plays club with Prime Time Lacrosse.

BU has continued to attract more and more top recruits, beginning with goalie Joe McSorley for this season, and the likes of Christopher Gray and others heading into next year. 2017 is the first year the Terriers will have four recruiting classes of their own to make up the roster, a big step for a program that has been able to contend to make the post season for the past two years.

As noted previously, a verbal commitment isn’t set in stone, as the Terriers already lost Anthony Demaio to Maryland, who would have been a program-changing recruit.

There’s plenty of time in years to come for BU to keep bringing in more talent, and now that the program has been proven to be a viable contender, the Terriers should be able to bring in more players who can make a difference in a competitive Patriot League. It’s not like previously when they could only seek seniors and juniors to have players on a new team, they can now look for the best players in the nation to build a team.
