Men’s Hockey: Hockey East Week Ahead

By: Marisa Ingemi

BU vs Providence (H&H): After a ten day layoff, the Terriers are back in action with a home and home against Providence. Connor LaCouvee will get the first start, as it seems to have become the norm for BU. Coming off a huge win against Harvard, and now getting healthy, the Terriers might be ready to get on a roll. Providence has had better days, and all they really have going for them are their goalies. Prediction: BU sweep

Notre Dame @ UMass (2): Both teams are coming off of tournaments last weekend, with UMass coming back from Ireland and Notre Dame at the Shillelagh tournament. The Irish lost in the final while the Minutemen finished in a tie with St Lawrence in the losers bracket. Its on the road, but Notre Dame has seen much more success than UMass this season. Prediction: Notre Dame sweep

UConn @ UMass Lowell (H&H): UConn was impressive in its 4-0 victory over BU. The River Hawks always seem to find a way to contend, even without Kevin Boyle and a host of other graduates. The way the Huskies have played has to have opened some eyes, but Lowell is still one of the tougher places to play in the conference. Prediction: Split

Maine @ UNH (H&H): UNH was defeated by Cornell 3-1 last weekend. The Wild Cats have had their moments, but Maine has been surprisingly good this season led by a young group of underclassmen. A home and home however, it’s tough to say because these teams could be even. Prediction: Split.

Boston College vs North Dakota (@ NY): The Eagles picked up a solid win over Northeastern last week despite an additional loss to Minnesota. This game itself is one of the best of the year, and the game of the week, with two top ten out of conference opponents. The Eagles have been on a roll, playing better than was expected heading into this season.  North Dakota has played well, but is just 2-3-1 in its own conference. Prediction: BC wins

Northeastern @ Boston College: BC will be coming off of a tough game in New York just a few days before the quick turnaround at home against Northeastern. Its a rematch of last week, where the Eagles won on the road, and now host the Huskies. Northeastern did look good last week with a 6-4 win over 11th ranked Minnesota. Prediction: BC wins
