Men’s Hockey: Clayton Keller Injury Prognosis Incoming

BOSTON — After earning Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week Honors, Boston University freshman forward Clayton Keller may be sidelined with a long-term injury.

According to sources close to the team, while unofficial, the initial prognosis is for a long-term injury. Word from the team is expected to surface over the next 24 hours.

During the third period of Saturday night’s home game against Northeastern, Keller, the seventh-overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft to the Arizona Coyotes, was sent to the ice behind the play, favoring what looked to be his knee.

After being helped up and skating gingerly off the ice under his own power, Keller limped down the tunnel and did not return to the ice in BU’s 3-0 victory over the Huskies.

The injury has come at a crucial time for BU as the team gets set to travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan this weekend for two games with the Michigan Wolverines. If Keller is unable to play this weekend, BU will be without its top goal-scorer this season.
