Men’s Hockey: Terriers Recruiting Round Up

By: Marisa Ingemi

The past couple of days have seen the Boston University men’s hockey team bolster its lineup for years to come. BU received commitment from Shane Bowers, a forward with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL the day after 14-year-old Dylan Peterson announced his intention to play for the Terriers.

Bowers, who stands at six feet and 170 lbs, has five goals and four assists in nine games for the Black Hawks this season. The 17-year-old is a top prospect to be drafted into the National Hockey League next season as well, and is one of several members of the class of 2021 who will join BU next season.

Bowers is currently on a four game scoring streak and has seen his stock raise as an NHL prospect over the past few months. He joins the likes of Brady Tkachuk and Ty Amonte as Terriers’ who will take the Agganis ice next season.

Peterson, much younger than Bowers, won’t don the scarlet-and-white until the 2020 season. The Russell, Ontario native currently plays for the Canadian International Hockey Academy, where he has 15 points in nine contests this season.

Peterson played for two junior teams in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, where he racked up 53 points over two seasons. The two prospects are both Canadians who would join Gabriel Chabot and Brandon Hickey as Canadians on the roster.

More recruits could continue to be announced within the next months, but with this year’s freshman class and the ones to come, the Terriers should continue to boast some of the top talent in the league.
