Women’s Hockey: Terriers Keep Within Conference
BOSTON — The #9/10 Boston University Terriers continue their regular season against two Hockey East opponents: New Hampshire and Vermont.

NEW HAMPSHIRE WILDCATS: 0-2-0 (0-0-0 Hockey East)
UNH opened the season with two straight, two-goal losses to Colgate. They were outshot 77-58 over the course of the two games. Julia Fedski scored both goals in the 4-2 loss, and Taylor Wenczkowski put in the only Wildcat goal in a 3-1 loss the next day.
Vilma Vaattovaara graduated, leaving the net to sophomores Kyra Smith and Hillary Cashin. Each goaltender started one game last weekend and let in three goals. Smith had 38 saves while Cashin had 32.
Last season, Jonna Curtis and Amy Schlagel led the team in points against BU. Curtis had three goals and two assists, Schlagel finished with two goals and one assist.
Only 13 of the 20 players on the 2016-17 roster are returning players from 2015-16.
VERMONT CATAMOUNTS: 1-0-0 (0-0-0 Hockey East)
Vermont opened regular season play by beating the Union Dutchmen 5-1. Union has not won since December 12, 2014 against the Maine Black Bears, a streak of 54 games — including 12 ties.
Eve-Audrey Picard and Mackenzie MacNeil both scored two goals, and Taylor Willard added the other for the win. Madison Litchfield made seven saves in three periods for a total of 21. The power play went two-for-eight, the penalty kill was three-for-four.
Last season, Molly Depew started two of the three regular season games against BU for the Catamounts. The junior has moved to an off-ice analytics role for the team, yielding the net to Litchfield. Mellisa Black, a transfer from Union, and freshman Sydney Scobee have yet to see regular season time.

#9/10 BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS: 1-0-0 (1-0-0 Hockey East)
The Terriers sat idle last week and watched as Northeastern and Boston College lost games to open the season. After a 5-2 win over Providence, BU sits atop the Hockey East standings.
Sammy Davis (five goals), Victoria Bach (three goals, two assists), and Maddie Elia (two goals, three assists) paced all Terriers against UNH last season. Davis pulled away from her teammates with a hat trick against Vermont to total seven points (add four assists) in the three games with the Catamounts. Elia and Samantha Sutherland (two goals, two assists) both got four points in games against UVM.
Alexis Crossley will play in her 100th collegiate game on Friday against her former team. She scored seven goals and 17 assists as a freshman, then added four goals and four assists as a sophomore, playing nine fewer games.
In their last game with Providence, Sutherland put up her first collegiate hat trick while Victoria Hanson stopped 34 of 36 for the win. Davis assisted on all three of Sutherland’s goals. Newcomers Abby Cook (assist), Mary Parker (goal), and Nina Rodgers (assist) all put up their first points as Terriers.
The Friars and Terriers combined for 21 minor penalties in 60 minutes of play. 12 were types of stick infractions (tripping, hooking, slashing), eight were body infractions (holding, interference, checking), and one was a delay of game penalty.
The Vermont game will begin a four-game road-trip with two games against Penn State and one against Northeastern before playing again at Walter Brown Arena.
