Men’s Basketball: Terriers Travel to Lafayette

By: Matt Doherty

Looking for their fourth consecutive victory, the Boston University Men’s Basketball team will travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Lafayette Leopards on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 P.M.

The Terriers are playing their best basketball of the season as of late, winning three straight games against Army, Lehigh, and Navy to propel themselves into a third place tie in the Patriot League standings.

The next three contests for BU will come against teams they have already beaten this season. The first team on that stretch is Lafayette.

The Leopards are having a season to forget so far posting a 5-16 overall record and a 2-8 mark in conference play that puts them last in the standings.

BU beat Lafayette 58-41 earlier in the season in a game where the Terriers held the Leopards to 11 first half points.

Lafayette is currently riding a 5 game losing streak after dropping an overtime decision to Army on Wednesday night.

One thing the Leopards can do though is score the basketball. They score a little over 72 points a game, fourth best in the Patriot League, and have a premier scorer in junior guard Nick Lindner who averages 15.3 PPG.

The achilles heel for Lafayette all season has been defense, defense, and more defense. The Leopards give up a league worst 82 points per game, contributing to a -9.8 scoring margin. They also give up the most rebounds per game and have the worst rebounding margin in the conference.

With all that said, BU will have to continue scoring the basketball like they have been highlighted by the 83 points on 58% shooting vs. Navy on Wednesday.

The return of Cheddi Mosely has sparked the offense and provided a scoring threat off the bench for the Terriers. Also, Kyle Foreman is coming off arguably his best game as a collegiate athlete and Nathan Dieudonne continues rebounding at a high rate.

If the Terriers can keep their offense in a groove by knocking down three pointers and out rebounding the Leopards, then BU should be able to pick their fourth consecutive win and keep moving up the Patriot League standings.

Tip off from Easton is scheduled for 2 PM and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
