Men’s Lacrosse: Terriers and Bryant Battle in Pre Season

By: Marisa Ingemi

Boston University men’s lacrosse will play three pre season games to warm up for the regular season coming up next month, and the first game on the exhibition slate is a home contest against Bryant University. The Bulldogs, as lacrosse fans might remember, were the ones who upset Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2014.

This will be the first time the Terriers take the field since they received votes in the USILA coaches poll this pre season. This will also be the first time BU will face a division one opponent since it played Duke last May, as the Terriers only played McGill University of the CUFLA in October.

Bryant, a team out of the NEC, has won its conference for the past four seasons. Gunnar Waldt is one of the best goalies in the country and will undoubtedly be selected in tonight’s Major League Lacrosse draft. The team overall has more than 95% of its total points returning to the lineup in 2016. Their biggest loss is faceoff man Kevin Massa, one of the best in the country, who graduated last season.

Kyle Mummau, a junior defenseman, is a key player for Terrier attackmen to get around in this game. Between he and also Waldt between the pipes, this will be an interesting test for a BU offense that was the 21st best in the country last season.

The Terriers do not have an NEC team on their regular season schedule.

Game time is 11am.
