Terriers in the NHL: 1/13 – 1/19

The National Hockey League is littered from talent throughout the Hockey East conference, and Boston University has contributed a large part to that. Here’s a weekly look at how several Terrier alum have fared in the past week of NHL action, including Jack Eichel staying hot and a few injuries around the NHL.

Jack Eichel- Buffalo Sabres

Eichel scored and had an assist in a 2-1 win at Arizona on Monday night over the Coyotes. He scored on the power play, his 14th goal of the season, to open the scoring in the second period and then assisted on Jamie McGinn’s power play goal seven minutes later.

Kevin Shattenkirk- St. Louis Blues

The Blues won twice this week, defeating the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins, but Shattenkirk did not contribute a point. The only action with Shattenkirk this week has been trade rumors, where he has been connected to the Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Bruins.

Nick Bonino- Pittsburgh Penguins

Bonino suffered a hand injury on January 15th and the team has stated he will miss at least the next month.

Matt Nieto- San Jose Sharks

Nieto got on the scoresheet on Monday night when he scored in the Sharks 4-3 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators. He scored one of two Sharks goals in the third period to force overtime against Ottawa and gain a point. It was his sixth goal of the season, and it was also a beauty.

Colin Wilson- Nashville Predators

Wilson sustained a lower body injury on January 9th and has not played since. He skated on Monday before the Predators practiced and he should be back soon.

Charlie Coyle- Minnesota Wild

The Wild were shut out twice in the past week, by the Winnipeg Jets and the Nashville Predators, resulting in no points from Coyle, who, until recently, had been having a strong month for Minnesota.
