Terriers in the NHL: 12/30 – 1/4

The National Hockey League is littered from talent throughout the Hockey East conference, and Boston University has contributed a large part to that. Here’s a weekly look at how several Terrier alum have fared in the past week of NHL action, where once again Jack Eichel makes it look easy and Kevin Shattenkirk keeps scoring goals in St. Louis.

Jack Eichel- Buffalo Sabres

Eichel scored two goals on Saturday afternoon and was named the first star of the game despite the 4-3 Sabres loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Eichel also assisted on the lone Sabres goal last Thursday night, a tally from Ryan O’Reilly, in a 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders. The night before he picked up a pair of assists in a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Colin Wilson- Nashville Predators

Wilson was not able to register a point in the past week for his Predators. His last point was a week ago, when he scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues. On the season, Wilson has three goals and 11 assists in what has been an off year for the Nashville center.

Kevin Shattenkirk- St Louis Blues

Despite a 3-1 loss last Thursday night to Minnesota, Shattenkirk scored his seventh goal of the season. It was the only goal on the night for the Blues.

Shattenkirk kept up his strong season in St. Louis on Monday night when he scored a goal in the Blues 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators. He also attempted seven shots on net

Charlie Coyle- Minnesota Wild

On Thursday night, Coyle helped the Wild pick up a 3-1 victory over St. Louis when he assisted on a Thomas Vanek goal.

Colye scored a goal on Saturday night as the Wild lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-2. He also picked up an assist on a second period goal from team mate Jared Spurgeon. Coyle has been playing well of late for Minnesota, and now has 21 points of the year in the form of ten goals and 11 assists.

Nick Bonino- Pittsburgh Penguins

Bonino assisted on a Penguins goal from Kris Letang last Thursday night in what was a 5-2 win for Pittsburgh over the Red Wings. It was his sixth assist of the season and his ninth point overall.
