Terriers in the NHL: 12/22 – 12/29

The National Hockey League is littered from talent throughout the Hockey East conference, and Boston University has contributed a large part to that. Here’s a weekly look at how several Terrier alum have fared in the past week of NHL action, including a huge game from Jack Eichel and a stunning save from Kevin Shattenkirk.

Jack Eichel- Buffalo Sabres

Eichel was triumphant in his first return to Boston since donning the scarlet and white. He scored two goals against the Boston Bruins to lead the Sabres to a third period comeback victory on Saturday night. He also had two assists in the contest, and had three points in the third period alone where the Sabres scored four goals. He has 11 goals on the season overall.

Colin Wilson- Nashville Predators

On Monday night, Wilson scored one of the Predators’ three goals in their 4-3 loss to the St Louis Blues. He also added an assist to his points total on Sunday night in a 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers.

Kevin Shattenkirk- St Louis Blues

On the Tuesday night before Christmas, Shattenkirk helped lead the Blues to shutting out the Boston Bruins, 2-0. Shattenkirk scored his sixth goal of the season on Monday night in a 4-3 victory over the Predators. He also assisted on a the overtime goals from Alexander Steen to help lead the Blues to a 3-2 win against the Dallas Stars on Saturday evening.

Charlie Coyle- Minnesota Wild

On last Tuesday night, Coyle helped the Wild to a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens. He scored the second goal of the game for Minnesota in the third period. He scored again a week later in a 3-1 Wild win over the Detroit Red Wings. Coyle has 18 points in his 35 games played with the Wild this season.

Nick Bonino- Pittsburgh Penguins

Bonino registered two shots on goal and saw 14:32 of ice time in a Saturday night 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. On the season, Bonino has eight points in 33 games in the Penguins lineup. His Penguins teammates who attended BU, David Warsofsky and Adam Clendening, have been scratches of late.
