Men’s Ice Hockey: Reports Indicate Nick Roberto Will Remain Suspended for the Remainder of the Season
By: WTBU Hockey Staff
A report from College Hockey News has indicated that junior forward Nick Roberto, who had been suspended for “a violation of team rules” since the beginning of the season, will remain suspended by the team for the rest of the season and could possibly face further discipline from the NCAA.
The suspension comes from alleged gambling activity in which Roberto participated last season. According to the report, there are possibly former BU players involved along with multiple other college hockey players from around the region.
Roberto was originally scratched from the Terriers’ opening game at Union as a coaches decision, but a reason was never cited again.
According to NCAA regulations, any student athlete found involved in gambling faces a minimum one year suspension.
