TOP 3 ROUNDUP:

The Providence College Friars earned all 20 first-place points from our staff voting this week, the first team to do so in this season’s poll. The Friars defeated the Brown Bears, 4-1, on Thursday. Providence is led by Jake Walman, who has scored 11 goals this season, six on the power play and four game-winners.

North Dakota comes in second this week, following a pair of 3-0 shutout wins over Minnesota-Duluth. The Fighting Hawks are fourth in the country for scoring defense, allowing 1.684 goals per game. Offensively, North Dakota is led by Brock Boeser and Drake Caggiula with 13 goals each. Nick Schmaltz is tied for first in the nation with 23 assists. Goaltender Cam Johnson is second nationally with a .955 SV% and a 1.195 GAA.

Quinnipiac drops to third after a lengthy stay atop the poll. The Bobcats were handed their first loss of the season as Boston University beat Quinnipiac, 4-1. Despite the defensive setback, the Bobcats maintained the nation’s top scoring defense, conceding 1.374 goals per game. Goaltender Michael Garteig sits third in the nation with both his .948 SV% and 1.237 GAA.

STATS OF THE WEEK:

American International College recorded a series sweep of Army with a pair of overtime wins this past weekend. AIC scored equalizers to force OT in the final four minutes of each game. It was the first home series sweep for the Yellow Jackets in six seasons, dating back to a 2010 sweep of Bentley. With the victories, AIC matches its overall win total from last season with four.

Boston University snapped Quinnipiac’s shutout streak of 209:33 with a first period goal on Saturday. The Bobcats nation-long, 17-game unbeaten streak also came to end.

ANNOUNCEMENT: This will be the last poll until after the holiday break. The next one will be Dec. 28.
