Men’s Basketball: Terriers Look for Season’s First Winning Streak Against Quinnipiac

The Boston University Terriers will look to win consecutive contests for the first time all season when they travel to Connecticut on Sunday to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats.

BU is coming off a dominating win over UMass-Lowell on Thursday night to improve to 4-5 on the year. Cheddi Mosely and John Papale led the team in scoring with a combined 40 points in the rout.

The Terriers continue to use different lineups seemingly every game this season with injuries galore. The most recent ailing player was senior Justin Alston, who did not play in Lowell on Thursday.

Head coach Joe Jones has had to use five different starting lineups in the last six games creating minimal flow on the offensive end. However, players such as Nick Havener and Eric Fanning have stepped up in recent games creating an offensive spark.

With John Papale and Cheddi Mosely struggling to shoot the ball until their outbreak against the Riverhawks, it became clear that the team’s overall offense runs through those two players. Papale and Mosely will need to continue their hot shooting against Quinnipiac to pick up the win.

Speaking of Quinnipiac, the Bobcats come into Sunday’s matchup sitting at 4-4 and riding a two-game win streak with victories over Canisius College and Hartford.

Senior Giovanni McLean leads the team in scoring with 15.6 PPG and has picked up the slack since second leading scorer Chase Daniels was injured.

The Bobcats have also already began play in the MEAC and currently hold a 1-1 record in conference play.

These two teams met a season ago when John Papale hit a go-ahead three-pointer with three seconds left to break a 68-68 tie and give the Terriers the victory.

Papale and the rest of the senior class is 3-0 against Quinnipiac with all three games coming down to the final seconds. The seniors will look to go to 4-0 tomorrow.

Tip-off from the TD Bank Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
