TOP 3 ROUND-UP

By: Dan Shulman

For the third straight week, the Quinnipiac Bobcats earn the top spot in the WTBU Poll. Riding a nation-best 15 game winning streak, the Bobcats continued their hot streak with a weekend sweep of UMass-Amherst, outscoring the Minutemen 5-1. Goaltender Michael Garteig moved to third in the country with a 1.282 GAA and fourth with a .946 SV%.

Providence jumped into second place on the list with a victory over Yale on Saturday. Fueled by two-third period goals, the Friars knocked off the Bulldogs to remain undefeated. Defenseman Jake Walman netted his tenth goal of the season with his fifth power play goal this year.

Boston College comes in at third this week. The Eagles won twice over the week, earning commanding victories at UConn and against RIT. The Eagles’ startlingly easy strength of schedule continues to be a contributing factor to their success. But with goalie Thatcher Demko, second in the country with a .953 SV% and a 1.234 GAA, along with the goal scoring prowess of Ryan Fitzgerald, who has tallied ten times this season, BC is starting to look like a real contender.

STAT OF THE WEEK

Six times this was a team in the top 16 scored on first and still won the game.
