Men’s Basketball: Terriers Outlast Bearcats, 75-65

For the third time already in the young season, the Boston University Men’s Basketball team responded to a loss with a victory, after posting a 75-65 victory over Binghamton on Saturday night.
The Terriers evened their record to 3-3 in the 2015 campaign following a complete game effort on all ends of the court.
Sophomore guard Cheddi Mosely led BU with a career high 26 points on 10-16 shooting. Mosely’s stat line also included an impressive 4-8 mark from three-point range and grabbed five rebounds.
Contributing alongside Mosely was Nathan Dieudonne who posted 13 points and six rebounds on the night. Justin Alston grabbed a team high 10 rebounds and also had eight points. Arguably the most impressive Terrier was sophomore Nick Havener who came off the bench and scored a career high 12 points to go along with his even rebounds.
Havener helped BU record their best rebounding game of the season as the Terriers had a season high 46 rebounds and 32 points in the paint.
Leading scorer John Papale was held to just eight points, but impacted the game on the defensive end while adding 8 rebounds.
The game was tied halfway through the first half until Mosely’s three pointer gave BU a lead they never gave up as the Terriers countered Binghamton’s attack all night long.
The Bearcats received 26 points from Willie Rodriguez just a game after dropping a career high 27 points. However Binghamton shot just 7-32 from three point range in the loss.
Binghamton made a run late in the game cutting the Terrier double digit lead to only six points, but BU made their free throws to pull out the victory and dropping the Bearcats to 1-4.
BU has struggled this season in the paint in the losses to NJIT and Kentucky but strong efforts from the seniors Dieudonne and Alston as well as an impactful 20 minutes off the bench from Havener proved to be worthwhile in the win.
It was the fourth game on a five game road trip that will end on Wednesday when the Terriers travel to Amherst to play in-state rival UMass, as they look to get above .500 for the first time of the season.
