Men’s Basketball: BU Runs Over the Bulls

By: Chris Lynch

In a much-needed victory game, the Boston University Terriers took a trip to Tampa, Florida to take on the winless South Florida Bulls. After losing to the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Thursday night, the team looked to bounce back Saturday and they certainly did. Four different players scored double digit points, and BU evened their record at 2-2 with a 78-66 victory.

Cheddi Mosely bounced back from a bad shooting night on Thursday to lead the Terriers in scoring on Saturday with 21 points. Senior John Papale added 17  points of his own, 15 of which  from beyond the arc.

Mosely added three of the team’s eight steals and the team only turned the ball over six times, compared to USF’s 12.

The bench also played a bigger role in the team’s success tonight. Nick Havener tied for the team high with 6 rebounds, and Justin Alston came off the bench to score 11 points.

BU out-shot USF from the three point line, as BU went 10-22. USF was dormant from beyond the arc, going 0-10.

The Terriers also recovered from trailing for much of the first half to get their first double-digit victory of the season. While USF out-rebounded BU 41-30, the Terriers controlled the second half and had the Bulls chasing at the end.

BU will face a difficult challenge on Tuesday night when they travel to Lexington, KY, to face the #2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats at 9:00 p.m. in Rupp Arena.
