In the inaugural WTBU poll, Quinnipiac takes the top spot after winning its first ten games of the season. The reason for the Bobcats early success: Michael Garteig. The senior goaltender is one of the best in the nation, playing all ten games. Quinnipiac has the top offense in the country, scoring 4.49 goals per game. The Bobcats power play operates at 32.61% on the young season, making them a dangerous team and early ECAC favorite.

North Dakota comes in at number two, winning two impressive bouts this weekend against Miami University. With a tougher strength of schedule, North Dakota, paced by early Hobey Baker candidate Nick Schmaltz, looks to make a run at another National Championship this season.

Third on the list is Boston College. Playing just once this weekend, a narrow 6-4 home win over Michigan State, the Eagles weak schedule has been a reason why BC is so dominant in the early going. However, that shouldn’t belittle the astounding performance of goaltender Thatcher Demko, who has posted a 1.003 GAA and a .962 SV% so far this season. BC also has a 91.67% success rate on the penalty kill, and looks to be in for a tough battle for Hockey East champion.
