BU v Navy

The Boston University men’s soccer team will wrap up their regular season with a lot to play for in the Patriot League. The Terriers are in Annapolis, Maryland to take on the Navy Midshipmen in a crucial matchup.

Colgate sit atop the Patriot League with 18 points, partially because the Terriers drew with Army last weekend 1-1 in double overtime in West Point, New York. BU are just one point back of Colgate, but they no longer control their own destiny. They’ll need Lafayette to beat or tie with the Raiders, when the two schools play on Saturday, if they want a shot at winning the Patriot League regular season championship.

The winner of the regular season title gets to host the Patriot League postseason tournament, which beings next week. American University are also still in contention for the title, sitting on 16 points in third place.

Navy come into the game having lost three of their last four matches, all against Patriot League opponents. Last time out the Midshipmen lost 2-1 to Army in a match played at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Derek Vogel is Navy’s leading point scorer on the season. The senior from Long Beach, California has three goals and four assists this year.

The Terriers will need to improve on a performance against Army in which they had the greatr share of shots but could not get much by the Army keeper.

The return of Anthony Viteri in the Army game is a much needed boost for BU after Viteri missed significant time due to injury.

Kickoff between BU and Navy is scheduled for 7 PM.
