BU Women’s Soccer Closes Regular Season with a Match at Navy

BU v Navy

ANNAPOLIS — With the Patriot League regular season title all wrapped up, the Boston University women’s soccer team will travel to the United States Naval Academy on Saturday for their final regular season matchup of the season.

The Terriers had the week off after beating Army 2-0 last Saturday. Alyssa Parisi has allowed just two goals in six conference games and has recorded four consecutive shutouts.

BU has already secured the overall spot in the conference tournament and will host the tournament semifinals and final rounds at Nickerson Field next Friday and Sunday. Navy has also secured a spot in the tournament field. They currently sit as the 3 seed holding a tie breaker over Loyola Maryland.

The Midshipmen could arguably be the toughest team the Terriers have faced all season. Navy (10-5-4, 3-1-4 PL) has the number one offense in the conference. They have the most goals and assists in the league and take over 16 shots per game. The Naval Academy also averages over 2 goals per game. The BU defense has allowed just 3 goals this month.

Navy also has a star forward in Clare MacAdam. The sophomore, who was second team all-conference a season ago, has tallied 11 goals and 26 points to lead the league. The battle of the night will be the high-powered Navy offense against the fundamentally sound BU defense.

A win on Saturday for Navy would also mean that these two teams could not meet again until the conference tournament championship.

For BU, a win would put them at 8-0-1 in the league and give coach Nancy Feldman her 20th double digit win season in 21 years.

After they return home, the Terriers will begin to prepare for the conference tournament. The tournament starts Tuesday at Nickerson Field with the top two teams receiving a bye.

A win on Saturday against Navy will give BU extra confidence and momentum going into the biggest weekend of the season.

Kickoff from Annapolis is scheduled for 5 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
