Nancy Feldman to be inducted into New England Soccer Hall of Fame

The New England Soccer Hall of Fame announced its list of inductees for the class of 2015. Among the nine new members, highlighted by Portugal star Eusebio, is Boston University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Nancy Feldman.
Feldman is in her 21st season as Head Coach at BU, where she started the women’s soccer program. She has guided the Terriers to 12 league championships and 11 NCAA Tournament Appearances. She has also led BU to 11 regular season conference titles and has won the Conference Coach of the Year award ten times, including three years in a row between 2008-2010. In 2011, Feldman was a part of the team that went 19-3-1 in the regular season for the best record in the history of the program.
In her first season coaching in the Patriot League, Feldman was named Coach of the Year after the team earned a share of the Patriot League regular season title. The Terriers posted an 8-1-0 record, earning a share of the regular season title before knocking off top-seeded Navy to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Feldman has led BU to two straight Patriot League titles since the University switched from the America East conference.
BU has recorded a double-digit win total in 19 of Feldman’s previous 20 seasons. Since inheriting a team in 1995 that had been recently upgraded to a varsity status, Feldman has earned a 256-116-37 record at BU.
Before her career with the Terriers, Feldman coached for five years at Plymouth State, amassing a record of 75-9-7 and earning New England Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1993. USA Today dubbed Feldman the third-best women’s soccer coach in the country after the 2014 regular season.
Feldman is the only NCAA head coach to enter the New England Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015. The last Boston University member to be inducted into the New England Soccer Hall of Fame was former player Francis Okaroh, who was inducted in 2005. The only other Terrier in the Hall of Fame is former player George Karalexis, who was inducted in 2002 and is also in the Boston University Athletics Hall of Fame.
In 2015 the Terriers thus far are 9-5-3 with a conference record of 7-0-1. Last season Feldman led BU to an upset of the top ranked Colgate Red Raiders to earn a bid in the championship game.
“I’m honored and humbled to be recognized with some great New England soccer names,” said Feldman. “I have spent most of my life in New England involved in the game as a player at Needham and UMass and then as a coach at a few high schools and colleges in assistant and head capacities before having the good fortune to be at the helm of a soccer program at such a prestigious school as BU.
“I’ve been blessed to have the support of my family to follow my passion to coach as well as having worked with great players and great people over the last 30 years, many of whom I now call friends.”
The induction is scheduled for November 22nd at noon and will be held at the Ramada Inn in Seekonk, Massachusetts. It is the 38th annual induction ceremony for the hall of fame.
