Terriers Clinch Patriot League Regular Season Title With 2-0 Win At West Point

WEST POINT, NY — The BU Women’s Soccer Team traveled to West Point on Saturday with only one thing on their mind: clinching the Patriot League Regular Season Title. The Terriers did just that, posting a 2-0 shutout against Army West Point on Clinton Field.

Alyssa Parisi dazzled in net once again posting her fourth consecutive shutout and her seventh on the season. The senior collected four saves on the afternoon including two remarkable saves in the second half to preserve her shutout. The Terriers have now not allowed a goal in 386 minutes.

For BU, it is their first Patriot League Regular Season Title since joining the conference in 2013. The Terriers have won the conference tournament the previous two seasons, but will now host the conference tournament on Nickerson Field in a few weeks.

It was a slow start for both as neither team had a shot on goal in the first 20 minutes. A pair of freshman though helped put the Terriers on the scoreboard.

In the 36th minute, Julianna Chen sent a pass to McKenna Doyle who controlled the pass and sent it past Black Knight goalkeeper Jordan Cassalia. Doyle scored her team leading sixth goal and her second in as many games. After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, BU wasn’t done.

This time, Rachel Bloznalis sent a second straight corner kick into the box where Chen headed it into the back of the net notching her first goal as a Terrier.

Army put pressure on BU in the last ten minutes but Parisi’s strong efforts in net kept the match at 2-0.

The two teams had 14 shots apiece but the Terriers outshot the Black Knights 8-4 on net. Feldman knew it wasn’t going to be easy but her strong willed team prevailed for the fourth match in a row.

With the win, Boston University improves to 9-5-3 (7-0-1 PL), while Army dropped to 4-11-2 (2-4-2 PL).

The Terriers will have a week off before they travel to the United States Naval Academy on Halloween night in their final regular season game. From there, the Terriers will have a Patriot League Tournament Semifinal game on November 6th at Nickerson Field.
