BU Women’s Soccer Looks to Clinch Patriot League Title at Army

WEST POINT, NY — The Boston University Women’s Soccer team will head to Army on Saturday with a chance to claim the Patriot League Regular Season Championship.

The Terriers can clinch their first ever PL Regular Season Title since joining the league in 2013 and host the conference tournament with a win or draw against the United States Military Academy.

The Terriers (8-5-3, 6-0-1 PL), won a tough matchup against Holy Cross on Wednesday to wrap up their home schedule, 3-0. However, Coach Feldman certainly feels there is a lot of work to be done heading into the contest at West Point.

“I think there is still another level of composure we need to have when we are in these situations. We’re going into West Point, a tough team on the road and there are a strong physical team and we need to bring our A game,” Feldman said.

Army’s record may not draw parallels to Feldman’s comments as the Black Knights currently sit at 4-10-2 overall, and 2-3-2 in PL competition, but they are in contention for the 6th and final spot in the conference tournament. With so much at stake for both teams, especially Army, the match is certainly going to be a physical one.

The Black Knights are led by senior captain Katie Holder who has five goals and fourteen points on the year, good for 6th in the conference in that category. Holder has been even more impressive in conference play as she leads the Patriot League in points per game in league matchups with 1.29 and goals per game in league matchups with 0.57

However, Holder and the rest of the Army offense will be going up against a BU team that has allowed just two goals in seven conference games thanks to outstanding play from goalie Alyssa Parisi and the back line.

Feldman commented about the 0.28 GAA in Patriot League play by her Terriers.

“Well Ally [Parisi]’s the number one reason, and our goal is for everyone to do their job defensively. But we want to have the ball and play in their territory and we want everyone committed to defending.”

The total defensive effort by Feldman’s squad has certainly paid off as BU has only allowed multiple goals once in their last eleven games.

Boston University is 2-0-1 all-time against Army. Last year, these two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
