Men’s Lacrosse: Four Games Announced Thus Far
The Boston University men’s lacrosse schedule has not been released in full yet, but as they approach their pre season weekend coming up, a few of their games are slowly starting to be revealed.
The Terriers will host the Providence College Friars on February 6th at 1:00 p.m. The Friars, a Big East club, defeated BU last season 7-4 on February 25th from Providence. Despite scoring just four goals in the game the Terriers put an astounding 18 shots on net in the loss.
On February 27th the Terriers will face the Navy Midshipmen at Nickerson Field as conference play opens up. BU played at Annapolis last season where they fell to the Midshipmen 14-6. It was the first loss of their six game losing streak that ended the season for the Terriers. Last season Navy finished at 9-5 with a 6-2 Patriot League record. Navy scored seven goals in the third quarter to pull out last season’s victory.
Patriot League play against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks was announced with a home game for BU on April 2nd with a time yet to be announced. Last year BU dropped a heartbreaker at Lehigh with a 10-9 loss. Lehigh had the same 3-5 conference record as the Terriers last season. The contest last year saw snow begin to fall in the fourth half where the Mountain Hawks scored with 2:30 left in the game to take the victory.
On April 22nd, Patriot League play continues against Holy Cross in what will be the Crusaders last game of the season. BU fell to Holy Cross last season 12-10 in the second-to-last game of the season. At 6-7, the Crusaders finished half a game better than the Terriers with the same 3-5 Patriot League record.
More games will continue to be revealed as teams begin to announce their schedules or when BU themselves release their 2016 schedule. Games against Bucknell, Loyola, Lafayette, Army, and Colgate will certainly be on their Patriot League slate. Last season the Terriers defeated the eventual Patriot League champion Colgate on the road so that should be a home game in 2016, and that should be a game BU fans circle on their calendars when it is released.
