Own Goal Lifts Terriers over Leopards in OT

BU v Lafayette

The Boston University Men’s Soccer Team got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon when they defeated Lafayette 1-0, in overtime, in Easton, Pennsylvania.

The Terriers defeated the Leopards thanks to a golden own goal just under two minutes into overtime. Lafayette sophomore goalkeeper Brian Ehrlich misplayed a cross allowing it to deflect off multiple bodies and into the net for an own goal. The goal was officially credited as an own goal, but sophomore Danny Foen and junior Felix De Bona played a crucial part in creating the scoring chance.

With the win the Terriers improved to 9-3-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Patriot League. Navy are nipping at the heels of the Terriers in the Patriot League standings. The Midshipmen fell Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania this afternoon, 1-0.

BU has little time to rest as they are back in action again on Tuesday when they welcome Albany to Nickerson Field. That game is a part of a three-game home-stand for the Terriers before they end the season on the road at Army and Navy. Kickoff between BU and Albany on Tuesday is set for 7:00 PM.
