Fisher, Terriers Ground Mountain Hawks, 3-0

The BU Women’s Soccer Team remained undefeated in conference play after they knocked off Lehigh 3-0 on Saturday at Nickerson Field.
BU improved to 7-5-3 overall, and 5-0-1 in the Patriot League while Lehigh fell to 6-6-3, and 1-3-2 in the PL.
It was Senior Day for the Terriers and Senior Captain Jenna Fisher set the tone for her team early and often, as the Terriers scored first for the fifth game in a row.
In the 9th minute Christina Wakefield sent a shot on net that deflected off Lehigh goalkeeper Ani Nahapetian. Fisher was there for the rebound shot and blasted it into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
Head Coach Nancy Feldman noticed Fisher’s prolific offensive presence.
“She does what you saw today day in and day out,” said Feldman. “She’s not a loud mouth but she’s showing you how to do it. She’s an unbelievable competitor and has an unbelievably strong will.”
Later in the half, the BU offense struck again. This time Erica Kosienski sent a pass ahead to Fisher who crossed it to the middle of the box where Jesse Shreck capped off the sequence by sending a line drive shot past Nahapetian.
“We tried to dictate our style and impact the game and I thought we did a really good job of that in the first half.” Feldman said.
The two Patriot League foes went back and forth in the second half with neither side emerging the better one until the 77th minute when Jenna Fisher came through again.
Fisher crossed the ball from the left side of the field to the front of the net where Erica Kosienski headed the ball into the back of the net, clinching the victory for the Terriers. It was Fisher’s second assist of the afternoon.
“I think we came out really strong but once we settled the ball down we played our game, got a few goals and then we really started to dominate after that.” Fisher said.
Seven seniors were honored before the game and all six active seniors started the game. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Parisi recorded her fifth shutout of the season, her second in as many games, and had four saves in the contest.
For Fisher, Senior Day was a surreal experience.
“It hit me a little bit in the locker room, it was definitely a sad moment, but having my family here it was such a great moment for all of us, it’s bittersweet I don’t want it to end but it’s been a great run.”
Although Saturday was Senior Day, it was not the Terrier’s final home game of the season. That will be Wednesday when Holy Cross comes to Nickerson Field. BU will look to extend their home conference win streak to 34 games and the team will look to get one step closer to clinching the Patriot League title. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and can be seen live on American Sports Network.
