BOSTON — The USCHO released its annual preseason poll on Monday, as the Boston University Terriers were ranked third overall and received six first place votes. BU was one of four Hockey East teams to feature in the poll. The other three are Boston College (#1), Providence (#7), and UMass-Lowell (#14). You can view the full rankings here.

Comm. Ave. rival Boston College topped the USCHO Preseason Poll for the first time since 2012, with Minnesota-Duluth, BU, North Dakota, and Denver rounding out the top five. The Terriers take on Denver on Halloween afternoon and play a two game, home-and-home series with the BC Eagles in mid-January.

Other Terriers’ opponents in the poll include conference foes Providence and UMass-Lowell, along with Harvard (#8), Yale (#12), Michigan (#13), and Quinnipiac (#18).

Numerous Hockey East schools just missed the cut. Among those receiving votes were Notre Dame, Northeastern, Vermont, and New Hampshire. ECAC foe Union, the team with which BU will open its regular season with, also just missed the cut.

BU was also featured in last season’s preseason poll, ranked 20th overall. This season was BU’s highest ranking since being placed second back in 2010.

The Terriers begin their preseason this coming Saturday as they host Canadian powerhouse Acadia University at 4:00 p.m.
