WASHINGTON D.C. — The Boston University (3-4-3, 1-0-1 PL) women’s soccer team was 2:10 away from seeing their four game unbeaten streak broken, but sophomore Erin Neville scored a game tying goal to force a 1-1 tie against the American University Eagles (3-6-1, 0-1-1) on Saturday.

The match was scoreless until the 75th minute when American freshman Audrey Denker headed a cross from fellow freshman Yari Bradfield past BU goalie Alyssa Parisi. The goal gave American a 1-0 lead with just 15 minutes left in the match.

After continuous pressure on the American net the whole second half, the Terriers finally came through in the 88th minute. Senior Clare Plueler sent a shot that hit the crossbar, but Neville was there to clean it up and head the ball past Eagles’ goalkeeper Charlene Belanger, who had 7 saves.

The game went into sudden death overtime where the Terriers had three opportunities to win the game but Belanger came up with big saves when her team needed her the most. After scoreless halves of overtime, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Boston University finished the game with a 20-5 advantage in attempts, including 8-3 shots on net. The Terriers also won in the corner kicks category with an 11-2 advantage.

Boston University will travel to Hamilton, New York on Wednesday night to face the Colgate Raiders in a Patriot League matchup. Colgate beat out BU last season for the regular season league championship. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
