BU Women’s Soccer Keeps Rolling, Upends Bucknell 4-0

BOSTON — Junior forward Erica Kosienski scored a first half brace for the Boston University Terriers (3-4-2) en route to a 4-0 victory over the Bucknell Bison (4-4-1) in the Patriot League opener on Sunday.
The past week has done marvels for the Boston University Women’s Soccer Team, as they have now won three straight contests. The Terriers, led by Kosienski, who has been battling injury for the better part of a year, netted her first two goals of the season in a span of three minutes to jump out to an early first half lead.
“I felt great for her but I also felt great for all of us,” Head Coach Nancy Feldman said about Kosienski’s two goals. “When you get a goal scorer starting to feel like she can score a goal every time she steps onto the field it’s a powerful thing.”
Senior goalie Alyssa Parisi had two saves on the afternoon collecting her second shutout on the season. BU’s defensive line continued their strong play as they have now allowed just two goals in their past three matches.
Heading into halftime with a 2-0 deficit thanks to Kosienski, Bucknell came out in the second half attacking but Parisi kept the shutout intact.
BU would add to their lead in the 51st minute, when freshman Chelsea Churchill scored her first career goal on a screaming shot from 25 yards out.
Sophomore defender Erin Neville also scored her first goal as a Terrier just twenty minutes later on a similar shot from the opposite side of the field. BU doubled their advantage, taking complete control of the game.
“I do think our play has continued to get better in the last seven days and this was probably our most complete game and I just like how we stayed strong and kept doing the things that were working,” Feldman said after the win.
After beginning the season 0-4-1, the Terriers have now won three straight games and are unbeaten in their last four. The win on Sunday afternoon also made BU 1-0-0 in Patriot League play.
Boston University will have the week off before it heads to the nation’s capital to take on PL rival American University on Saturday at 1 PM with a chance to go for four straight wins and even their record.
