Meet The 2019 BU Lacrosse Recruiting Class
It’s that time of year. It has been just three months since the National Championship was won by the Denver Pioneers, and already the itch for lacrosse has returned.
Luckily, lacrosse season never truly ends, and fall ball is right around the corner. Until then, Boston University is brought in a terrific class of freshmen to help the Terriers in their quest for a Patriot League title and beyond.
First off, the Terriers are in a tough lacrosse division. Going 6-8 overall in just their second season of varsity play, they made waves where they were not expected to. Out of their six victories in 2015, the Terriers defeated the likes of Patriot League rivals Colgate, Lafayette, and Bucknell.
The season did not end on a solid note, however, with six straight losses. One game was a one goal loss to Harvard, and they suffered two two goal losses as well. Other than that, they were defeated rather handily often.
Several players, such as junior Cal Dearth and sophomore Jack Wilson, are returning as top guys to watch on the roster. However, freshmen can make impacts in college lacrosse. Wilson was a freshman last season and he was second on the team with 40 points. Ryan Hilburn, another freshman, had 40 points.
This season, the Terriers have brought in local talent along with several stars from across the country.
Starting with James Burr, four freshmen come in from Massachusetts. Burr was a 2015 US Lacrosse All American and was also on the USA Today 2015 all New England team. The Middlesex native was also a BostonLax.com All American for the last two seasons.
Out of Longmeadow, MA is midfielder Matt DeMarche. DeMarche, a two way midfielder, has stellar defensive skills along with a nose for the net. He had 40 points in his senior season with Longmeadow, including a total of 22 goals.

Sherborn native Grant Gregory is a bona fide attackman. He was named the Division Three HS lacrosse player of the year and is the Dover-Sherborn high school all time leading scorer with 267 career points.
Lastly from the locals is Sudbury native Eamon Hunter. Hunter is a lock down defenseman who was a first team all star twice and was the team captain when Lincoln-Sudbury went undefeated.
Other players of note include midfielder Brendan Homire out of Huntington, NY where he played at St. Anthony’s. Homire led St. Anthony’s to a championship game appearance and was an all-league player in his last two seasons.
Michael Laviano also comes from St. Anthony’s. He missed some time with an ACL injury in his sophomore season, but had 36 points in his freshmen season alone.

Christopher Lappin is a defenseman coming all the way from Raleigh, North Carolina. Lappin was the Big Eight (the conference he played in) defensive player of the year for his last two high school seasons.
Cal Pierce comes from Atlanta, Georgia. He played four seasons at the Lovett School. He is a long stick midfielder and was the team captain in his senior season when his team went to the state title game.
Other recruits include Jack Seminara (Buffalo, NY), Thomas Schmidt (Durham, NC), Andrew Pugliese (Darien, CONN), Sean McGovern (Doylestown, PA), Drew Lukas (Davidson, NC), Jack Grossman (Chappaqua, NY), and Quinton Germain (Huntington, NY).
